Roof Cleaning in Leicester
Moss and algae build up on roofs, and on conservatory roofs they also cut out a noticeable amount of daylight. We clean both, using gentle methods rather than blasting delicate surfaces.
Conservatory roof cleaning
Conservatory roofs are one of our most requested jobs. We clean the panels and the frames and glazing bars around them, which is usually where the worst of the green growth sits.
The difference is most obvious from inside — more light comes through once the panels are clear.
Working safely at height
Where a roof cannot be reached and cleaned safely, we will tell you rather than take the risk. Send photos with your enquiry and we will let you know what is possible.
Questions
Your roof cleaning questions, answered
It depends on the tile type, age and condition. Some roofs clean well; older, fragile or damaged tiles may not be suitable. We need to see the roof before recommending anything, so send photos with your enquiry and we'll tell you honestly whether a clean is worth doing.
Moss and algae thrive where roofs stay damp and get little direct sun — north-facing slopes, roofs under trees and sheltered spots. Spores arrive on the wind, settle in the texture of tiles and between joints, and spread gradually, especially through wet autumns and winters.
We use gentle methods on roofs rather than blasting delicate surfaces. The exact approach depends on the roof itself, so we'll explain what we'd do once we've seen it. You can read more about the difference on our soft washing and pressure washing pages.
It varies with the size and pitch of the roof, how much growth there is and how easy it is to reach. A conservatory roof is a much shorter job than a full house roof. We'll give you a realistic idea of timing when we quote.
No clean stops moss for good. Growth returns over time, particularly on shaded or damp roofs. How quickly depends on the roof's position and surroundings rather than the clean itself, so we won't promise a fixed period.
Removing heavy moss can help rainwater run off freely and reduce the debris washing into your gutters, which is part of keeping a roof in good order. It isn't a repair, though, and it doesn't replace a roofer's inspection. Pairing it with gutter clearance is often sensible.
We price roof cleaning after seeing the roof, because it varies so much. Size, pitch, tile type, the amount of growth and access all affect the price. Send photos with a quote request and we'll let you know what's possible and what it would cost.
