Gutter Cleaning & Clearance in Leicester

Blocked gutters are one of the most common reasons people call us. Leaves, moss from the roof and general silt build up over the seasons until water spills over the edge instead of reaching the downpipe.

Safe'N'Clean clear guttering on homes and smaller commercial buildings throughout Leicester and Leicestershire.

What gutter clearance involves

Clearance means removing what is sitting inside the gutter run — leaves, moss, nesting material and compacted silt — so water can flow to the downpipe again. We check that the outlets are running before we finish.

Signs your gutters need clearing

  • Water running over the front edge of the gutter during rain
  • Staining or green growth on the wall below a gutter joint
  • Plants or grass visibly growing out of the gutter run
  • Damp patches appearing on internal walls near the roofline
  • Water pooling beside the house instead of draining away

Clearance is not the same as washing

Clearing the inside of the gutter stops it overflowing. It does not make the outside of the plastic look new again — that needs the gutter face, and usually the soffits and fascias, washing down as a separate job.

Tell us which you want and we will quote both if you are not sure.

How we quote

The price depends on the size of the property, the height and length of the gutter runs, how bad the build-up is and whether we can get to the back of the house. Photos taken from the ground help a lot.

Questions

Your gutter cleaning questions, answered

The clearest sign is water spilling over the front edge when it rains. Others include plants growing out of the gutter, green staining on the wall below a joint, water pooling beside the house, or damp patches on inside walls near the roofline.

It depends on what's around the house. Homes with mature trees nearby often need clearing once or twice a year, usually after autumn leaf fall. Properties in open spots can often go longer. If you're not sure, a quick look for the signs above is a good guide.

Our service is clearance and cleaning, not repairs. If we spot a split joint, loose bracket or a section that's clearly leaking, we'll point it out so you can get it looked at. Clearing a blockage can stop overflowing, but it won't fix a gutter that's cracked or badly aligned.

They can. When water overflows instead of reaching the downpipe, it can run down walls, soak brickwork and pool near foundations, which may contribute to damp over time. Damp has many possible causes, though, so clearing gutters won't solve every problem on its own.
